InstaSpring

I am continuing my Instagram fun, this spring is full of beautiful colors and crystal blue skies.

For starters, something unusual for my morning walks, an image of an old church. I was visiting my friend in the hospital and was just passing by. The sky was very inviting.

The neighborhood is in full bloom, there are all sorts of flowers and there is no sign of stopping.

My river bank route is serene and beautiful as ever and I even made some new friends…that was until Berta chased them.

Speaking of my little princess, she was relieved that I didn’t bother her too much with my camera, so I have only this one image, but at least she looks happy.

Last Days of Winter on Instagram

February was not very generous with sunny days, so I managed to capture just few sunrises. With spring fast approaching,  hopefully there will be more opportunities for colorful images. Here is my modest selection of February on Instagram.

That little bee on the yellow flower is a leftover from the last summer. I was in the middle of a very cloudy week and this old image just beckoned to be posted.

Finally a portrait! She was in a mood, so there was no time to turn on the lights, I just clicked before she changed her mind. 🙂

Instafreeze

I can’t remember the last time we had so many days with temperatures way bellow zero…We are used to subzero temperatures, but 40 days in a row is too much, even for me.

It was challenging to take photos on my morning walks, even few seconds without the protection of gloves was hard to bear. And still…there were many beautiful mornings that beckoned me to capture them.

We had very little snow, but it stuck around for long, transforming in low temperatures from soft cover to icy trap. What a fascinating thing to observe, how nature struggles and embraces all the changes in different seasons.

But I don’t think anyone enjoys this weather more than Berta. She bursts with energy, running and playing in snow and her fur is so rich, shiny and soft…And she smells like cold winter and snow.

Instagram Adventure Continues

I took a bit of a break for holidays, enjoyed some time with family and friends. Now that the work started, I am starting to work on my blog, too.

All through the last year I had enormous fun with my Instagram project, taking photos on my morning walks and posting them with minimum processing. December was no exception, I experienced great weather and some pretty amazing mornings.

A professor of mine used to say “It’s all about the details.” and more often than not I can’t argue with that. It is very rewarding when you rediscover an old thing that you’ve been passing by for years.

The gentleness of winter sunrises always leave me breathless, it almost feels like the sun shyly invites you into a new day.

Being the month of December, it was impossible to avoid few Christmas images. But I managed to control myself this time and posted just the few.

Month after month my Instagram project continues only and only because of Berta. She is my driving force for all the morning walks, I don’t think I would be up and about in freezing conditions morning after morning, if it wasn’t for her. And sometimes she gives me the best and funniest images I could ask for.

My Instagram feed was swamped with everyone’s #best16of16, so I had to do it myself. It was interesting to see which images were most popular and I was quite surprised to see almost 10.000 likes. I have such a small group of followers, so that number is pretty amazing.

My Instagram adventure continues in 2017. and as always, you can find me under the nick snowlocked. I would love if we could connect on Instagram, too.

Instagram…Still Here!

I just realised I skipped my regular monthly post with Instagram updates. But it’s never too late to share enjoyable things. Autumn proves to be spectacular season for my morning walks, beautiful sunrises leave me speechless.

It was interesting watching how leaves slowly change their colors and how rich they look, even on a gloomy, rainy day.

Dandelions are  the most resilient plants I’ve ever seen, they thrive in every season.

My mornings wouldn’t be complete without Berta, a perfect companion for the beginning of every day.

Instagram in October

Another fruitful month on my Instagram, October offered plenty of interesting subjects for my camera. Macro world proved to be full of surprises, one just needs to remember to look down.

For some, spring and summer offer the most interesting colors with all the flowers, for me it is the autumn. From pale pink to fiery red and yellow, from misty softness to gentle sunrays, I simply adore all the colors.

Vilma made a rare appearance, she is even more difficult to capture than Berta. But I managed to trick her. As for Berta, business as usual…a vanishing act in the morning mist.

This month marks a full year of my Instagram project and I am still enjoying it so much. It is funny how I still find interesting and challenging capturing same images over and over again.

My Favorite Instagram Season

I was half good in September, because I went on a vacation and failed to take a single image for two weeks. Fortunately, returning home meant quickly falling into the same old routine of snapping pictures on my morning walks.

I was lucky enough to catch a bee and it was quite by accident, I didn’t even realize she was there.

The leaves are still dark green, but soon they will start changing colors, from dark red to bright yellow.

Experiencing all four seasons with my Instagram project, I concluded that the fall is my favorite season for taking pictures.

The combination of sunrise and the mist gives the most beautiful, dreamlike images. It is fascinating how it never gets old, photographing the same scenery over and over again.
