Instagram Adventure Continues

I took a bit of a break for holidays, enjoyed some time with family and friends. Now that the work started, I am starting to work on my blog, too.

All through the last year I had enormous fun with my Instagram project, taking photos on my morning walks and posting them with minimum processing. December was no exception, I experienced great weather and some pretty amazing mornings.

A professor of mine used to say “It’s all about the details.” and more often than not I can’t argue with that. It is very rewarding when you rediscover an old thing that you’ve been passing by for years.

The gentleness of winter sunrises always leave me breathless, it almost feels like the sun shyly invites you into a new day.

Being the month of December, it was impossible to avoid few Christmas images. But I managed to control myself this time and posted just the few.

Month after month my Instagram project continues only and only because of Berta. She is my driving force for all the morning walks, I don’t think I would be up and about in freezing conditions morning after morning, if it wasn’t for her. And sometimes she gives me the best and funniest images I could ask for.

My Instagram feed was swamped with everyone’s #best16of16, so I had to do it myself. It was interesting to see which images were most popular and I was quite surprised to see almost 10.000 likes. I have such a small group of followers, so that number is pretty amazing.

My Instagram adventure continues in 2017. and as always, you can find me under the nick snowlocked. I would love if we could connect on Instagram, too.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

In my book it is just never too much of Christmas magic. This year I spent so much time taking images of my Christmas Tree decorations, they look so cute, hidden…and every single one has a story behind it.

For this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge, I decided to leave a dash of color. After all…it’s the right season.  🎅

For more interesting monochrome images, I recommend a visit to Leanne Cole’s blog Leanne Cole PHOTOGRAPHY, where every Wednesday she hosts The Monochrome Madness Challenge.

Twas The Night Before Christmas

For the last few years my hometown finally figured how to attract tourists and for the second year in a row it holds the title for the best Christmas Market in Europe.

Last Friday I went on a walking tour and managed to see just a small part of all the festivities that are happening all over the town. Although the temperature was way bellow zero, the good company, food and drinks made it very enjoyable.

This was just one of many images I captured along the way, it seems there is something happening on every corner. It was a very cold night and the fog started to descend, giving this image just a hint of mystery.

We are going out and about again this Friday, hopefully there will be even more interesting and beautiful things to photograph.

For more interesting monochrome images, I recommend a visit to Leanne Cole’s blog Leanne Cole PHOTOGRAPHY, where every Wednesday she hosts The Monochrome Madness Challenge.

Happy Holidays!!!

Here we are, at the end of another year. But, as the wise people said before – This is not the end, just a rest-stop before the new adventure.

I wish you all Happy Holidays, wherever you are and whatever you are celebrating! I hope you will spend time with your loved ones, filled with peace, joy and celebration.

Merry Christmas

Until the next year!

50 Happy Things for 2015: Bloggers Unite in Flood of Gratitude

Few days ago Dawn Landau of Tales From the Motherland invited me to participate in an interesting event. Trying to spread positive thoughts across the blogosphere, I agreed to make the list of 50 things that made me happy in 2015. The trick was to write them down in 10 minutes or less. I thought it tricky, but in truth I managed to come up with 50 happy things in 9 minutes, which in return made me happy again. The event is going live on Monday 21 and if you want to help spread happy thoughts, you will find all the necessary details at the bottom of this post.

And now….here are my 50 happy things!!!

If you’d like to join in, here’s how it works: set a timer for 10 minutes; timing this is critical. Once you start the timer, start your list. The goal is to write 50 things that made you happy in 2015, or 50 thing that you feel grateful for. The idea is to not think too hard; write what comes to mind in the time allotted. When the timer’s done, stop writing. If you haven’t written 50 things, that’s ok. If you have more than 50 things and still have time, keep writing; you can’t feel too happy or too grateful! When I finished my list, I took a few extra minutes to add links and photos.

To join the bloggers who have come together for this project: 1) Write your post and publish it (please copy and paste the instructions from this post, into yours) 2) Click on the blue frog at the bottom of this post. 3) That will take you to another window, where you can past the URL to your post. 4) Follow the prompts, and your post will be added to the Blog Party List.

Please note that only blog posts that include a list of 50 (or an attempt to write 50) things that made you feel Happy or 50 things that you are Grateful for, will be included. Please don’t add a link to a post that isn’t part of this exercise.

I’ll Be Home For Christmas

Here is another Christmas image for this week’s After Before Friday. Actually, it is the last ABF of the year. So, I find it  appropriate to say goodbye to 2015 with some festive tones.

Loré Dombaj ABF71 before

This is one of the images from Zagreb’s Christmas Fair, just a little frame of atmosphere. I liked how it turned out, in all its randomness. Editing was very simple, something I am trying to do lately. Just a bit of straightening and playing with radial softness. I wanted the wreath to be the central focus and those jars in the left corner look almost magical in that soft glow.

So, this is it for ABF crowd. Our next gathering will be on January 8 for One Photo Focus and January 15 for our first After Before Friday Forum. Hope you all enjoy the holidays and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Little Angels

My hometown Zagreb was elected The Best Christmas Market in Europe!!! I am very proud of how beautiful the city looks, with so many different corners to explore. This image was taken a few weeks ago and I thought it was perfect for the Angel theme, for this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge.

Deck the Halls

Welcome back to AfterBeforeFriday! After last week’s break, we are back in the saddle. I am obviously overwhelmed with Christmas spirit, so here is another festive image.

Loré Dombaj ABF70 before

I would like to say that the “before” is so good, there was no need for heavy editing. The truth is a little bit different…I was too lazy. 😀 So, I just polished it a bit and slapped a random filter on it. I think it looks great! I dare you to say different! 😛

Elves vs Rudolf

For this week’s Monochrome Madness the challenge was to take some images of Santa or his elves. Naturally, I completely spaced out and thought I was supposed to capture a reindeer (figuratively speaking). Let’s pretend those two little kids are elves and I got it right. Ok? Thank you. 🙂

As always, be so kind and hop to Leanne’s blog Leanne Cole PHOTOGRAPHY where you will find other amazing entries in this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge.

Next week is all about the angels…Who knows what I’ll send to poor Leanne!
