Time for another entry in Friday Fictioneers challenge, courtesy of Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. If you want to give it a try, check the info on her blog. 100 words more or less, inspired by a photo, here we go….

It seems so strange and unfamiliar to stand here. My mind and memory are engaged in a perpetual game of catching up and I don’t know who is wining, which is a silly notion to begin with. Either way, there is only one losing side. There was a time when it was easy to fool oneself that we were happy, but shades of gray creeped in gradually, sweeping over our colorful world. I can’t help but smile when a memory breaks out of you standing at the door, professing your despise for pink.
A play of memories and colours, I don’t think pink is too bad so long as it didn’t arise from a red shirt in the white laundry anyway! Yes, I did that one – eyeroll!
Those kinds of ruminations are energy drainers, which is what I think you’re saying with “there is only one losing side.” There seems to be some affection she still has for her partner. Maybe they can work it out?
Nice spin on the pink machine! 🙂 And, yes, sometimes growing is done with such mismatched pace that cycles are no longer compatible … (ok, enough puns) 😉
It sounds like it’s over. I don’t think it’s all down to the washing machine, either.

Dear Loré,
It sounds like there’s hope even he doesn’t like pink. 😉

Yes, either you grow together or you grow apart. Both options are an uneasy option when faced with so much more.

A memory of pink may not be enough to save them

I think they are just that…a memory.

This is a very striking piece – I like the going round and round imagery. And what’s winning anyway?

It’s like Olympics, winning doesn’t matter. 🙂

Pink is a deal breaker… any other colour is fine.

Personally, I detest yellow.

I think most men have issues with pink. Brown is probably my most disliked colour, but some things look great in brown.

I like this one. The colors are used to paint vivid strokes of emotions. Well done.

My husband loved pink – said it took a real man to wear it!

Nicely done! How many shades of gray? “Oh, by the way, which one’s is Pink?” At least the memory brought a smile. 🙂

This piece has a nice flow to it, even though it seems to be a very sad one.

The evocative music was the perfect foil for reading this post. Sadness, nostalgia, regret.

Memories and dreams are what you always mourn after (and during) a break up.
