Time for another entry in Friday Fictioneers challenge, courtesy of Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. If you want to give it a try, check the info on her blog. 100 words more or less, inspired by a photo, here we go….

“One, two, three…One, two, three…turn to your left. And again!”
I was there once. Feet softly touching the ground, your arms lifting me up in the air, my hands reaching for the sky. I never counted the steps, never thought about the moves. We were liquid magic, barely standing still.
“Two, two, three…Two, two, three…Release!”
I stand still now. Watching someone else dance my dreams away. The paralyzing pain comes in waves, crashing over me, leaving me breathless.
But you are here, lifting me up, whispering softly:
Such a longing… I can feel the narrator’s hollowness, how the memories are good but not enough. It’s hard to just watch, without being able to take active part.
Oh Loré, that was simply beautiful.
And thank you so much for the skating video. They are breathtaking! (Of course, they have such a marvellous coach… 😉 ) It so fun to watch with different commentators. The Scottish guy.. nice.
Honestly, it doesn’t take me long to write this little stories. They just fly out from the corner of my mind. Later, I see things I would change, but I seldom do. You are very kind, Michael.
What a lovely piece, very moving.

This made me think of a dancer near the end of her life, where the ghost of her beloved has come to dance with her into the next grand adventure.

Wonderful and wonderfully sad, to lose your dreams and watch others fulfilling them. Tragic

As usual a lovely moving piece of writing. I don’t know whether you spend ages honing each piece but your writing’s always spot on.

Bittersweet beauty here, Loré! I imagine love that’s lost, an accident that has left one lover unable to dance… either way, bittersweet and beautiful.
