Her footsteps, quiet as falling leaves, sounded like marching drums to his trained ears.

Reaching the end of the alley, she adjusted her robes and spoke in a soft and measured voice.

“Ezio Auditore…You are a hard man to find.”

Ezio jumped from the roof top, landing mere inches from her.

“And yet, here you are.”

Removing invisible specks of dust from her shoulder, she graced him with the smile that never reached her eyes.

“There is a library in Masyaf that holds the answer. Find the key.”

Watching Rowena’s retreating form, Ezio wondered if her touch would still burn him.

Just a little vignette for Assassin’s Creed fans.

  1. Thom Carswell says:

You nailed this. You didn’t go overboard with the Assassin’s Creed references and you created enough narrative interest to appeal to readers with no prior knowledge of the franchise. Loved your title too.

  2. I’m only slightly acquainted with Assassin’s Creed, but this story also stands well on its own. I love the adventurous search and the mysterious abilities of the characters. This is a very well written tale!
