The Man in the High Castle

I’ve been watching a TV series The Man in the High Castle, so my inspiration for this week’s Monochrome Madness theme High derived from that. This is the image of Karlštejn Castle, from one of my many travels to Czech Republic.

Karlštejn Castle is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 CE by Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor-elect and King of Bohemia. The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia as well as the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, holy relics, and other royal treasures. Located about 30 km southwest of Prague above the village of the same name, it is one of the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic.

I found so many images on the internet where the castle is surrounded by woods. All I can say – cheaters!!! 😛 The castle stands above the village and it is almost impossible to get the clear shot of it from the main road. I think it would be possible to get a better shot from the north side, so there is a motive to go back and do it all over again.
