Memories, like ice crystals, tend to melt, disappear and come back in a different, but strangely familiar shape.
Memories, like your grandmother’s crochet, tend to take over every available surface, while you desperately try to tuck them to the bottom shelf of your life’s cupboard.
Then one morning you get up of your bed and carefully place a piece of crochet on a tea table…You walk to the window and lean your head on a frosty surface, welcoming the passing stream of memories, washing away the fog that clouds your mind.
Good metaphors. I never thought of crochet pieces being like memories. And, yes, they move on. Some pieces I’d like to block, but my mind has a really too good replay mechanism. Bummer. 😦
Beautiful piece of writing – a great use of image to represent memory and the way we sometimes just have to accept and leave them behind. A great twist on the prompt and one I would never have dreamed of myself. Gret stuff
I’ll add my agreement to what everyone else has said, a lovely piece of writing and memories are what we are made of and so important used in the right way.
Memories are what we’re made of, And we rework them constantly. Loved the images you used

Dear Loré,
We appear to have been on the same page this week. Your lovely and well written piece could be the epilogue for mine.

Love the analogies of ice crystals and then crochet for memory, they work perfectly.

I was just having this conversation (sort of) with my sister. Memories are tricky.

This is beautiful writing. Memories must be dealt with, suppressing them for too long will only bring them out unexpectedly.
