Chariots of Fire

Time for another entry in Friday Fictioneers challenge, courtesy of Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. If you want to give it a try, check the info on her blog. 100 words more or less, inspired by a photo, here we go….

Who can remember the clouds?

Or the sound of raindrops falling on the water?

I can…

Where are the mountains and rivers of my childhood, greens and blues and yellows of my dreams?

How did it come to be this future without a misty sunrise or a golden sunset?

What happened to my silver moon?

Did the stars burn out?

Or does the sun shines too bright?

They are the same…

Why did we forget that we are but a speck of dust in the world of giants?

We ran for too long in our chariots of fire…

  1. Wow, Loré! What a terrific piece of prose this is! I’d say this is one of your finest. It speaks on more than one level, which is what you want, really. The vid is beautiful and I didn’t know Scarlett Johansson could sing (I included a video in mine this week, too). She’s terrific.

Anyway, great job this week! Five icebergs.

  2. Beautifully penned! This is poignant and so true. 😦
Thank you for sharing the video, too. I’m taking this to my sleep. Sweet dreams! (If it’s nighttime on your end)

  3. IfeomaO says:

“Why did we forget that we are but a speck of dust in the world of giants?”- perfect. So many truths in this, almost sad, but profound.
