Everywhere I turn, there is your sad face. Today you are on the cover of every paper, fast-selling news. Tomorrow they will start to question your legacy.

I never knew you…and still, you were the part of my life. In this harsh, crumbling world you were the island of undeniable beauty. Somewhere in the house there are your records, perfectly preserved.

She loved your music so much. I can still see her sitting at the kitchen table, lighting another cigarette, slowly sipping her drink. There is an added layer of sadness in your death. Because of the way my mother cried over your music.

  1. Lore,
In the beginning, this could have been about any celebrity–today’s news, tomorrow’s scandal. In the end you make a stranger’s death intimate and personal. Nice story. I’d like to see you tighten it up, fix the typos and polish it into a true requiem.

    All my best,
    Marie Gail
