Maybe if I follow her for a while, she’ll notice me. I bet she would share a drop of water from that bottle that is dangling off her back.
Thirsty…
It’s been too long since that little boy shared his meal. But his father threw a rock at me. I wonder if the kid will take after him.
Tired…
I would try to make a sound, but my throat still hurts, the cuts from the chain are too deep. Still, I was lucky to get away.
Oh, she stopped…
I never knew human hands could offer a gentle touch.
It’s amazing how some people can be so heartless, and others so giving. We should name the dog! A bottle of wine for the best suggestion! From me: Bisto.
Well done indeed! Your story certainly helps me relate to the down-trodden looking dog and takes me through several stages of what it has experienced without telling me directly. I like it. 🙂
In amongst the all the dogs in the kennel this week, your story soars. The voice is perfect, the message is pointed yet subtle and the conclusion is beautiful. Well done.

Dear Lore`, Awesome story! I love stories (and books) that start out with the point of view from an animal – “Switch” by Sandra Brown (I hope I remembered the title correctly) I loved. You are so good at penning a tale – honestly grand! Nan 🙂
By the way, I didn’t know who the band was, but I had heard the song before – It is hauntingly beautiful and what a voice he has! Excellent! Nan again 🙂
I don’t really follow their work, but this song gets me every time. Glad you liked it. Honestly, I continue to pair my stories with songs mostly because you seem to listen to them. 🙂
