Friday is upon us and we are back to our regular ABF, where we edit our own images.
I have this passion for taking photos of strange things, like iron gates or street lamps, always looking around for some hidden treasure other people overlook. I found this little hidden gem in a park in Salzburg. The original looks so worn out, dirty and sad, that I had to play around and make it more like I remember it.
Really minimal effort here, just a touch here and there, a little bit of adjusting the exposure and saturation, a little bit of healing and brushing that lamp, slapping some Orton on it and that was it. Everything was done with the help of PicMonkey, my trusted sidekick. 🙂
Next week we are presenting our next One Photo Focus image for March, which happens to be my image. Be sure to check other participants in this craziness called AfterBeforeFriday on Stacy’s blog Visual Venturing.
So, that’s it on this week’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!
I love what you did, very cool.

The Orton effect is quite nice as it adds a glow that I quite like.

Great image here, Lore! I just love how you’ve brought out the pretty greens and made the colors pop. You use the Orton effect so well in most of the images I’ve seen by you, I keep trying to do an Orton effect (by hand with two layers like in a tutorial I saw) and it just never seems to work out for me. I must be choosing the wrong images (or I’m doing it wrong), you make it look so easy!

It doesn’t work on all images, that’s for sure. I am using Orton through PicMonkey, it is a part of the Effects section, so maybe you can try it there. I am very happy that you like it, thank you. 🙂

You definitely gave renewed life to this weathered lantern, Loré. And I agree with Ben about the Orton effect – lovely glow! Looking forward to unveiling your image next week!

Orton really does wonders sometimes, but you have to be careful to not overdo it. Thank you, Stacy. I hope people will like the image I’ve chosen.

Thank you, I wanted to make it as I remembered. But it seems I was on serious drugs at the time, too much glow. 🙂

Hi Snow, I love your Orton affect it works wonderfully with your image. I love the glow, and the delicate soft green of the leaves as much as what it did to the lamp.
