First…
…is the hardest step to take. When your back is pressed against the wall, fear makes you think At least there is one solid thing in my life.
Second…
…is the easy one, for you can always go one step back to your comfortable little prison.
Third…
…you hesitate for a moment, but you think One step forward, two steps back, I am still safe.
Fourth…
…there is a rush in your veins, spring in your step. There is no turning back.
Fifth…
…you run. You fly. You are alive.
The trick is to keep going, no matter what comes your way.

I was going to say “nice little homily” and then I checked for the definition. The first part of the definition said ” a sermon or speech that is intended to provide spiritual education, or any moral lessons that are being imparted” fits the bill nicely. The second not at all – “especially when being imparted or taught in a tedious way.” This was a refreshingly different take on the prompt. 🙂 Well done!
Oh .. there is a great symbolism in this.. I think we will see plenty of symbolism this week. Isn’t it always so, changes are always harder when we begin…
You always keep us guessing with your pieces i.e. what style they will take. This is good as too many are afraid to experiment. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

that’s a great breakdown of the process of change, which you could apply to any situation. I like that image, of running, almost flying off the top of the steps. I hope you soar into 2015 as well. 🙂

I enjoyed the way the story was in steps and matched the prompt, which itself was steps. Numbered steps, rising, leading us to a new beginning… I like it. Fitting for this time of the year, too. Well done.
