Spectacular! Spectacular! I learned something new!
As I was preparing the image for this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge, I hit the wall. Not literally, cause then I probably wouldn’t be able to type right now.
My usual process consists of going through image after image, not finding anything I like. This week was no different. I finally settled on this image, liked the composition, but found it a little bit dark. Tinkering with exposure didn’t bring any improvement, but then a lightbulb moment happened. 💡
What if I leave that mandarin orange? I remembered few times others submitted their monochrome images with the splash of color, so I assumed that wouldn’t be against the rules (not that Leanne is strict about those). But I had no idea how to do it, in my mind it was some complicated process that would test my patience and editing abilities. It turned out to be a piece of cake. GIMP + YouTube tutorial and 10 minutes later I was done. That’s what I call an anticlimax. 😀 Good news is I am starting to worm up to GIMP.
Be sure to check two very important things on Leanne Cole’s blog Leanne Cole PHOTOGRAPHY, one – other wonderful images, two – my splash of color in a gallery of monochrome. If you’d like to participate, you’ll find all the details at the bottom of her post.
Good for you, Loré! I love the splash 🙂

GIMP is a free editing software, a little cruder version of Phtosohop. Thank you, glad you liked it.
