Time for another entry in Friday Fictioneers challenge, courtesy of Rochelle Wissof-Fields. If you want to give it a try, check the info on her blog. 100 words more or less, inspired by a photo, here we go….

“Honey, will you come here for a moment?” Mr.Pillsbury asked his wife of 50 years.
Mrs.Pillsbury entered the room with the same sway of  hips that made him a prisoner of hers years ago.
“What is it darling?…Oh, you finished it…Are those the same shells?”
“Yes, my dear. Our first unofficial date…we were twelve the first time I asked you to marry me.” Mr.Pillsbury pulled his wife closer.
Her laugh filled the old house: “We got there…eventually.”
“Let’s take another walk by the sea…look for some new shells.”
“All these years…I still love you.”
He kissed his wife and whispered: “Good.”

I crawled out of the dark hole this week. I blame it on a sunny weather. Hope it lasts…both the weather and my mood.

As a romance writer and reader that spoke right to my heart! I’m glad the good weather dragged you out of the hole. That said, I often write sad stories for this meme…

  3. I’m glad he hasn’t lost his eye for her swaying hips, and I’m glad her arthritis hasn’t robbed her of that attribute. They’re a lucky pair. A great, engaging story.

    • In my first draft I ended it with “I love you, too.” But when I read it out loud, it was too sweet for my taste, so I changed it into “Good.” That was one of your first advices you gave to me when I joined FF – take your time and read it out loud. So, thank you for that.

  4. Dear Lore,

You crawled out into the sunshine in fine form. This was sweet and loving and wonderfully imagined and written. Good job.

A wise man once told me that life will have peaks and valleys, but just to make sure not to take up residence in a valley. Make sure that you do the same.

And if you ever need an ready and willing ear of someone who’s been there before, drop me a line.

    Thanks for writing this one.

    Aloha,

    Doug

    • That is so sweet, Doug. Thank you, it it much appreciated. I must confess my dark hole was more weather related, because we had an insane amount of rainy days this summer. But it is nice to meet people who are willing to reach out. That says a lot.
