Funny how everything sounds spectacular in Latin. This is a common houseleek, a species of flowering plant in the family Crassulaceae, native to the mountains of southern Europe. You can find it everywhere, on balconies, cemeteries, parks, woods. There are so many shapes and colors, their simplicity and endurance is beautiful. And the craziness of different names is very amusing: bullock’s beard, thunderplant, Jupiter’s eye, St. Patrick’s cabbage, healing blade, devil’s beard. Such powerful names for such a small plant.
