Time for another entry in Friday Fictioneers challenge, courtesy of Rochelle Wissof-Fields. If you want to give it a try, check the info on her blog. 100 words more or less, inspired by a photo, here we go….

Tired. So damn tired. Walking for days, weeks, months…has it been years already? Who is counting anymore? Who is left to count?
When we described the future without us, they wouldn’t listen. When we asked why, they wouldn’t look us in the eyes. They took our rights… Tortured us… Killed us. Now, there is no one else to tell them.
They will catch up eventually. How utterly amazing it will be to see the looks on their faces. The last one. Too old. No more babies.
I am the last Woman of the Earth. And I am ready.
Dear Loré,
Perhaps she’ll meet up with the last man on earth. 😉 Bleak and well written.
Shalom,
Rochelle

The trouble is, it could happen. Well drawn if rather stark picture of our possible future!

We fight the fight every day without even noticing it. I hope we can avoid that kind of future. Thank you for stopping by.

It’s interesting how much can fit in 100 words, I am amazed by it week after week. Thank you for your kind words.

Such a dystopian reflection. Reminds me of the handmaid’s tale,,,

It’s funny how I didn’t really planned for it to be a dystopian story, but it got away from me. Thank you.

Wow! Powerful story telling Loré! The first person account of the last woman on earth is so compelling, and makes such great use of the photo! Wonderful.

I really enjoyed your take. This type of story is one I like to play with often. When they come for you, who will defend you when everyone else has already been taken away? Very good.
Thanks.

Thank you. It’s the age old dilemma – to fight for your beliefs or your survival. It seems too often you can’t have both.

Such a powerful piece, and such a powerful indictment against those who decry, intimidate, harass, molest, rape women!
That was a great, great piece, Lore!

Thank you so much. It was deliberately “over the top”, I wanted the reader to feel that she is making her last stand.

Lore, Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. She looks almost too tired to care. Well written. 🙂 —Susan

Thank you, Susan. With the last line I gave the MC a gender, but it could be any living being on this planet.

Good story, powerfully written. And a warning to those who would enslave, abuse, torture or kill another person, let alone entire generations of people.

A very topical story, considering the current global situation. This isn’t futuristic writing, it’s now. That’s what’s really scary about your story. Well done. I suppose. 😉
