As the sound of his steps bounce off the cracked walls, he says: “I wonder how many times in history people believed the future tales would paint a different picture about their present.”
“You are there to observe, not to ponder.”, a reply comes over the comm.
He studies his reflection, the old mirror distorting his already distorted frame. “Do you think we will find the cure in this timeline?”
Silence that greets him offers the truth too close for comfort.
“Oh my, they had flowers here.”, his heartbreaking whisper travels into a distant future. “Always wondered how they smell.”
